Thumbs down 500 Internal Server Error (Merged)

for the last 2 days my site has been intermittently getting "internal server error" and has been running REALLLL SLLOWWWWWW.
I just migrated to the new platform, 2 days ago, so my experience thus far has been 100% krap.. i virtually NEVER had issues on the old platform (ok, ONCE in a while, for short periods there would be problems)..

is this what we have to look forward to on the new platform? Since there is nothing posted in the outage and issues forum (http://forums.powweb.com/forumdisplay.php?f=41) i have to assume this is business as usual???

Yup, I got the internal server error 500 several times today as well ... This is getting really old, really fast.

I'm getting this also this morning. Strange thing is, only one of my sites is doing this - the last one to be migrated. The other site is fine.

I've been getting the same thing since Saturday, AND my page load times are about 30-60 seconds.
I've opened a ticket, and so far gotten the same "we checked your site and it looks fine from here.." message..
OPEN A TROUBLE TICKET AND KEEP AT THEM! If we dont let them know, they can (or wont) fix it!

I also have two sites, and only one is having trouble.
The only differences is they are on different SQL servers, and the one that has no problems get's 20 hits per day, the one that does have problems gets several thousand per day.
THere is one other thread about this, so we arent the only ones with this problem.. Open a trouble ticket and KEEP BUGGING THEM ABOUT it !

it's now 5:30pm california time, and my site has been running well for at least the last hour.. it looks like whatever the problems was, they fixed it.

My forums are going to suffer because of the slowness. I think I'm going to have to submit a support ticket. Two days of slowness is frustrating and ridiculous.

Received reply from support. Apparently my rewrites are to blame for the server errors on all your websites...

Well for god's sake, man, change your .htaccess file so that our sites will start working again! Jeez, some people have no respect...

It seems that you block any request which doesn't have a user-agent header, so that threw me off for a minute while I was trying to load your site, but for some reason, I don't think it was causing my site to load so slowly (or not load).

<sarcasm>
Seriously, though, what a helpful message. It was nice that support was able to pinpoint the exact error and told you how to fix it with such clear, concise details.

Oh give it up, already. We all know you have no clue what you're doing. Now just be a good little customer and do as support tells you

On a side note, I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that it's come to the point where we can joke about it...

I havnt had any issues for days.. i went thru my PHP.ini to verify all the settings are "correct" for the new platform - i wonder if that had something to do with my errors going away?
have you verified your PHP.INI is compatible after your migration?

Seems to be loading fast now.
I do wish the new staff would say something just to reassure everyone that whatever the problem was/is has been corrected.

Give Powweb a break. They have got to do something with the world's old 486 and 386 machines.
I think they spent the years budget on software instead of hardware. The legacy systems will be recycled back into the mix. Maybe then the load will be evened out again.

Unfortunately you're wrong. The Legacy hardware wasn't sold with Powweb - so they won't be added to the mix. We've not been given a definite fate for the old servers and other hardware, but Endurance don't own them.

Now I am getting this "The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request. The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log." error. At first it was only when I entered my gallery, and now my whole site is down. What kind of messed up servers did they move us to?

My site is down again because of this error. Is Powweb planning on fixing this anytime in the near future?

500 Internal Server Error?

I am on day 4 with this error when you visit my website. I have not changed a thing sence our site was migrated. If the servers we are on now error all the time, why did we migrate to them?

How can a person run a website when thier visiters are seeing nothing but...

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.

By the way, there is no error log. Can Powweb please fix their servers!!!

Ok, the error no longer shows up when you first visit my website, but its still there when you try to go to our Gallery... http://www.msmcs.net/index.php?name=gallery

Again, there is no error log pointing out what the problem is.

I'm not trying to be nasty, but why haven't you moved hosts yet? I haven't had even half of the problems you've had (I've actually had very few), but I'm already in the process of moving my domains to a new host. I think the that 'new' PowWeb has already shown that not only won't customers get the same feature that had before, but that they won't be able to get decent support for existing features of the new platform.

Don't wait for the ship to sink under the waves before you get into a lifeboat. Since you've mentioned customer I assume that you run a business site - can you afford to have these continuing problems?
