Scheduled Maintenance

Can future Maintenance advices have the period in Greenwich Time instead of USA Time? It would make it easier for us not located in the USA.

Most companies based in the US use US timezones for maintenance schedules. Where I work, everything is in CDT and I work in PDT.

You can find a time converter here. It might help.

Well they're an International hosting company so it would make sense to use GMT.

It's just common practice in the industry if you are based in the US, you use US timezones.

Don't you Aussies simply add 11 hours to our time (USA EST)?

I would normally agree with you but on this occasion I do see PowWeb as a USA-based company and not an international company. GMT is of course especially relevant to those of us who live in the UK but I am here because I have not found the same type of web-hosting package at the same sort of price and flexibility being offered by a UK-based company. I even put up with those funny dates in these forums.

What do you mean? It looks okay to me! Can't members who are logged into the forum customize the time or date? Or isn't that an option for this forum? That would make a great plugin.

You can edit the Date and Time settings from within the User CP.

It will not however change the time/date settings within a post which is what I think the problem is.

Okay, I understand. Since I am in the same time zone, I didn't know.

This discussion has taken place before and the outcome was that Powweb weren't going to use GMT or UTC timezones. There WAS an undertaking to TRY and post the offset from GMT and specifically declare times as EST or EDT if they remembered.

Maybe this thread will be taken as a reminder of that undertaking.

Why not post time/date with a link generated with this?
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldcloc...22&min=0&sec=0

It produces a link like this:
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldcloc...n=0&sec=0&p1=0

If they're not remembering to include the offset, what chance of remembering a link?
