Which one would you choose?

Ok I made these for a potential client. This is one of those...'This is what your site could look like'. But I can't decide which one I should send to them.

Little help please.

Make your choice wisely

If the text on the red one was white.. I would choose it, but since it is gray.. I'd choose the 2nd one.. the white w/orange text.

nice work btw

Thumbs up

The red get my vote, though the one on the far right got a professional appeal to it....I'll also say white instaed of the grey letters....You self-taught youself how to do these graphics. How long have you been doing them.I hope I'm following in your directions..I been at it for about 4-5 months....

How long have I been doing this? Well I started using photoshop 4.0 long time ago at the University....but just for printing images for my boss...didn't do any image manipulation. Then went to another place that had 5.0 and started learning the layers in my spare time. Then another job and they had 5.5 where I started to learn masks. Then I got 6.0 and learned a lot more about the program (won't say where this one came from since I don't condone it) . Started doing some images and websites stuff like that. So then I went out and purchased 7.0 this year. And now I use it almost everyday. I got a ton a books and read the tutorials online. Also I signed up for NAPP - national association of photoshop professionals. The membership comes with a free subscription to the Photoshop Users Magazine. Which is awesome. The cost is $99 bucks a year.

What really got me doing thing was a friend of mine. He sends me an email once a week with only 3-4 colors and I create an image using only those colors. Then we started stepping it up. Started giving me a time limit to complete the task. Or he would send me an image and I would recreate it as closely as possible. This is the best way to learn. Try and recreate something.

I was going to join in the fray.. and grab a graphic I did years ago that I'm still proud of so I could 'show-off' a bit.. and what did I find out?

Bad news: Zip drive is busted

Good news: for the first time in my life... something I own is still under warranty! one of the archiving sites has it though if anyone is interested:

http://web.archive.org/web/199805241...znet.com/misc/

The only filter used was a bevel.. the rest was hand tweaked. The color is a little off in their archive.. and it doesn't have the black background on the page.. but you get the jist..

i like the red one. there's a psychological subscious association of red with speed, so it fits your graphical message quite well.

nice

Making fire by hand. That is something I still can't get right. Always use a Filter by KPT 6 or Eye Candy. Good work. Hope to see more.

I'm contemplating it.. at work right now.. and I think they'd frown on me using the whole afternoon to play <G>

But depending on what's on my 'to-do' list this evening, it's definately an intriguing challenge..

know the feeling

I know what you mean. The company I am contracted out to at the moment doens't have it and I can't load it. Really need to buy a laptop so I can bring it to work. Problem is I still can't get on the network.

bad news.. zip disk corrupted.

good news.. with alot of patience and about 7 hours.. I was able to get almost everything off it.

For any who care:

http://www.semistixstudio.net/roommate_index.html
that is how the orig. page looked graphically, except the background is slightly corrupted now.. (better than some of the things on the zip faired..)

hate when that happens

I had an image I really liked...burned it to disk. And then month's later went to retrieve it and the disk was broke in half so there was no way to recove it....even tried to super glue it back together. Bad mistake that was. I guess the fumes got to the lazer or something hell I don't know but my CD-rom when out. So those of you at home don't try super glue. Or let it dry better.

BTW. good job on the image. Knowing this was done by hand a while back it really looks good. Lot of tuts and filter programs out there now for the flames and chrome.

I just bought 50 'mini-disc's' for backing up graphics & website, they hold 185mg's, and in their cases.. fit into a floppy drawer (or pretty much any floppy storage). Got some labels.. and now I have all my backups in one little floppy holder.. and the mini-cd's are all labeled better than a floppy could be (let's not even mention the storage difference). Too many times has a CD ended up on the floor.. and Ooops.. well that's a bad scratch..

It was created in late summer '96 (there's the time frame for ya . I DID use an inner bevel filter.. but that was it for specialized filters. For the 'light' I just used PS3's lighting filter (I don't count that as it's standard). That is the best 'fire' I've ever done.. though I've had a few other good ones. The first version of it can be seen here:
http://www.semistixstudio.com/1roommate.JPG

It's amazing what can be done w/out Alien Skins, KPT or the like.. if you have the time/patience & instructions! <g>
